The story begins with a young girl waking up in the middle of a snowstorm. Seconds later she is attacked by a rather scary vampire, and then saved by another, Kaname Kuran. She is brought to Cross Academy and is adopted by its headmaster, Kaien Cross, and is given the name Yuuki Cross.
